Cincinnati: Charley Harper Mosaic

I didn't know that Charley Harper was from Cincinnati until I was sitting at dinner after my screening at the Contemporary Art Center and Grace Dobush (author of Crafty Superstar) mentioned a mosaic of his at the Federal Building. Only a few blocks from my hotel I made my way there after visiting the American Sign Museum. You would never know that after going through a metal detector and a pat down that this amazing treasure is waiting for you.

There are two large panels of the mosaic viewable down each elevator hallway.

There are two panels like this one on each side so you can tell exactly what animals you are looking at. I struggled with #38, our friend the catfish.

Keep your eye on the red bird #36, the painted bunting.

What a treat to have something like this in your city Cincinnati.

I love your photos of the mosaic mural! It's one of those "best kept secrets" in downtown Cincinnati, and one of my personal favorite bits of public art here.
